Our Company
Whidbee Insurance Group was formally started in January of 2015, although it feels that my entire work history was preparing me for this profession. I began a career in sales and service in 1997 by assisting customers with their vehicle purchase. For nearly 20 years I was trained to learn my client’s needs in order to assist them in accomplishing their goals. During those years I worked in nearly every position there is in the automotive industry, from sales to sales management.
We started out focusing primarily on selling Final Expense Life Insurance, but it soon became obvious that the majority of our senior clientele were most concerned about their healthcare. As a result, we have evolved into a Medicare Solutions Specialist Agency. We now assist hundreds of clients annually with their Medicare options and changes, along with providing a full complement of Life and Health Insurance products.
Whidbee Insurance Group is a senior market insurance agency located in Elizabeth City, NC. We focus on assisting our senior population in understanding their healthcare insurance options. Our goal is to educate and inform our seniors on how to drastically lower their out of pocket healthcare costs and have the freedom to enjoy the life they worked so hard to create. Terrance L. Whidbee
Born and raised in Perquimans County, NC, the youngest of 8 children and now a proud Christian Husband, Father and new Grandfather. Northeastern NC has been my home for nearly all of my life and it is where I met my wife of 22 years, Mrs. Kelly A. Whidbee. We have two children and one granddaughter. We reside in Elizabeth City, NC and enjoy spending time with our family.
My greatest joy comes from serving the community through the church and our business. We are working together with local community organizations and churches to help make our communities better and healthier. Our goal is to help your family and community become better and healthier.

Kelly A. Whidbee, MHA, CCS
Kelly A. Whidbee is a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina from a family of one sister and four brothers. She is the co-founder of Whidbee Insurance Group with her husband, Terrance L. Whidbee. They have two beautiful children, Alexis and Alan, and one granddaughter, Alana. She loves spending her spare time with her family.
Kelly has 20 years experience in the healthcare industry as a hospital based coding specialist. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Norfolk State University. She has a Master of Science in HealthCare Administration from the University of Maryland University College and a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as well as North Carolina Health Information Management Association (NCHIMA).
